The flop was as perfect as they'd come for Strelitz. Altman checked. Strelitz set a trap and checked his nut straight as well, but Ladouceur checked his top pair behind. On the turn, Altman picked up a flush draw to go with his pair. He checked, Strelitz bet 225,000 and Ladouceur called.
Altman put in a check-raise to 700,000 and Strelitz, still having the nuts, just elected to call. Ladouceur had seen enough and folded.
The river completed the backdoor spade draw to give Altman the checkmark. Altman used a time bank card before settling on a bet of 650,000. Strelitz instantly called and was shown the bad news.
"So sick. Oh, that's so sick. Had a spade too," Strelitz muttered.
