A Bit of Commotion Surrounds Shak's Elimination

Level 4 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Dan Shak raised to 5,000 from under the gun and Koray Aldemir three-bet to 17,000 on the button. Action folded back to Shak who called.

The flop came {4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, Shak checked, Aldemir bet 12,500, Shak raised to 45,000, Aldemir three-bet shoved, having Shak covered and Shak quickly called for the 149,500 he had behind.

Dan Shak: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Koray Aldemir: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

The dealer burned a card, dealt the turn which was the {4-Diamonds} but also accidentally flipped open the next burn card which would have been the {7-Diamonds}. The dealer quickly confirmed he was 100% sure it was the burn card and so did the floor who happened to be standing behind the dealer. Shak looked unsure and wasn't totally in agreement.

The dealer continued to deal the river which was the {3-Hearts} to give Aldemir the higher flush to eliminate Shak.

A discussion ensued about what had happened and the floor tried to explain it again to Shak. The whole table basically agreed on the situation but Shak was still inclined to disagree. The tournament director was called over, who agreed with the floor and dealer. The rest of the table also tried to explain that even if the seven was the turn, the {3-Hearts} on the river would still mean that Aldemir would have won.

Shak resigned to that fact and made his way out of the tournament area.
