McCormick Doesn't Want Anyone to Bust
Martin McCormick has been one of the most talkative players of the tournament. He says he qualified for the Main Event with for $27.
"This is amazing," he said, "Fedor Holz, I watched you playing live in the Philippines and now I'm here playing with you. It's surreal."
McCormick is routinely being reminded by the dealer that the action is to him. On this hand the action was on him, the dealer let him know, and he called.
The dealer and another player told him to put his chips in to call, so he paused his conversation and put the 14,000 in. His opponent on this hand was Renaud Desferet. McCormick was first to act and checked the flop.
"Don't do it," he said to Desferet, "Ive got it. I'm going to call whatever you bet."
Desferet bet 17,000 and McCormick quickly called. The turn was the and both players checked. When the hit the river, McCormick bet 35,000.
"I've won this hand," said McCormick and Desferet folded.
"I talked you out of losing," he said, "I don't want anyone to bust, I just want everyone to have a good time." McCormick stacked his chips and is sitting at over 600,000.
