2013 WSOP Main Event Champ Hits the Rail

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

We saw Ryan Riess taking the long walk of loneliness down the hall (though to be fair he was with his girlfriend), and he confirmed that he'd just been eliminated from the Main Event.

As he told it, Fedor Holz had raised from the cutoff and Riess called from the button with {a-}{10-}. Both players checked the {k-}{j-}{j-} flop, and then Holz bet when a {10-} appeared on the turn. Riess called, a {9-} completed the board on the river, and Holz bet again.

Riess responded by moving all in, and Holz hit the tank for over a minute before calling with {q-}{7-} for a straight. That hand left Riess crippled, and Holz finished him off shortly thereafter.

"Bluffed it off," Riess concluded.
