Emperador Doubles Through Reilly

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Leonardo Emperador
Leonardo Emperador

Tim Reilly opened with a raise and a short-stacked Leonardo Emperador moved all in for his last 8,500 from the button. Action folded back to Reilly who called.

Reilly: {A-Hearts}{j-Clubs}
Emperador: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

The board fell {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Emperador survived his bubble all in. Despite this victory, he's still short with about 25,000.

Another Bubble Double

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Jonathan Roy raised all in for about 30,000 from early position and found a call from Naoya Kihara on the button. The blinds folded and the hands were placed on their backs.

Roy showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} and was in bad shape against Kihara's {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}. Fortunately for the Canadian, the dealer fanned a {Q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, giving him a set of queens and the lead in the hand. Roy retained his lead through the turn ({6-Diamonds}) and the river ({7-Hearts}) to ensure his renewed life in the Main Event.

One More to Go

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Connor Drinan busted just before the money bubble.
Connor Drinan busted just before the money bubble.

Chance Kornuth opened for a raise in early position and got three-bet to 25,500 by Connor Drinan in the cutoff. Kornuth came back with 55,500, and Drinan jammed for about 180,000. Kornuth called.

Kornuth: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Drinan: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

Drinan couldn't find any help on the {9-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}{q-Spades} board, and Kornuth scored the knockout with queens full. The tournament is now one elimination from the money.

River Busts Kern on Bubble

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Arne Kern
Arne Kern

Arne Kern got his last 93,000 in before the flop and was called by Ambrose Ng.

Ng: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Kern: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Kern found the pair he needed as the flop came {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. A {3-Hearts} turn made things dicey though, as it gave Ng a flush draw. A black card hit the river, but it was the {10-Clubs}, giving Ng a set and Kern a painful bubble out.

ElkY Triples Up

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A very short-stacked Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier moved all in for 18,000 the first hand after the bubble and was called by Andrew Wayman. It was folded to Kevin Schulz who reraised to 34,000. This raise caused some confusion for Wayman who decided to err on the side of caution and fold. Grospellier turned over {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and was against Schulz's {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}. The PokerStars Team Pro would take control of the hand on the {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades} and with the {2-Diamonds} on the turn the triple up was secured. He still has work to do with just 62,000 in chips but is at least still alive at this point in the tournament.
