Etcheverry's Shove Gets the Job Done

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We got to the table with two players, Juan Etcheverry and Diego Ventura, seeing a flop of {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and approximately 55,000 chips already in the pot. Etcheverry checked to Ventura who bet 20,000 only to see Etcheverry check-raise to 62,000. Ventura made the call.

The turn was the {J-Diamonds} and Etcheverry didn't take long to announce that he was all in.

Ventura sat still for a moment and then asked how much it was. The dealer counted the stack down and confirmed the amount as being 305,000. This was enough to cover Ventura who had 295,000 behind. Ventura counted his stack down and then glances over at Etcheverry who whispered something we couldn't quite understand to Ventura.

Ventura said nothing and after several more minutes in the tank, Etcheverry asked for the clock. The two sat there staring at one another while the tournament staff counted down the minute with Etcheverry raising his eyebrows at one point. With about 20 seconds left in the minute, Ventura slid his cards to the dealer. Etcheverry mucked his hand while humming a song, obviously pleased with how the hand had gone down.

Dietrich Chips Back Up

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

After Ryan Yum opened from early position to 8,000 and Naoya Kihara called from the hijack seat, Michael Dietrich reraised to 21,000 on the button. Play folded back to Yum, he folded, then Kihara made the call.

On the {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, both Kihara and Dietrich checked to see the {K-Spades} land on the turn. Kihara checked, Dietrich bet 14,000, and Kihara called.

The river was the {5-Hearts}, and Kihara checked. Dietrich moved all in for 50,000, and Kihara folded.

Pollak Coolers Price

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Oliver Price flopped a set but lost.
Oliver Price flopped a set but lost.

We found small blind Oliver Price shoving all in for 125,000 over a bet of 55,000 from Benjamin Pollak, who was on the button. The board read {4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{a-Spades}, and Pollak called with a sigh shortly after getting a count. Price flipped up {4-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a boat, but Pollak needn't have worried as he had {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} for a better full house.

An Orbit with Ronaldo

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ronaldo
Ronaldo

Famous Brazilian footballer Ronaldo has been seated at the secondary feature table since the start of the day. He's been able to battle back against some of poker's elite and as the field is now in the money, he's scored his first ever live tournament cash. We decided to follow Ronaldo for one eight-hand orbit around the table. Here are our findings.

Stack size at orbit's start: 107,000

Hand #1: We began following Ronaldo in the big blind. Action folded around to John Patgorski on the button and he popped it up to 8,000. The small blind folded and Ronaldo came along to see a flop.

The flop came down {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Ronaldo checked. Patgorski followed suit and the {2-Diamonds} hit the turn. Two more checks allowed the {K-Spades} to complete the board. Both players checked once more and Patgorski showed a winning {A-Spades}{6-Hearts} for ace-high.

Hand #2: Patgorski opened to 8,000 from the cutoff only to have Julio Martini three-bet all in from the button for about 50,000. Ronaldo peered at his cards in the small blind and immediately shoved all of his chips into the middle of the table. The big blind and Patgorski both folded, allowing the hands to be tabled.

Ronaldo: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}
Martini: {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Ronaldo was in a commanding position with his pocket aces. He never relented his lead through the {9-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} run out and he scored the elimination. This win boosted his stack up to right around 160,000.

Hand #3: There was an early positioned raise to 8,500 and Ronaldo folded his button.

Hand #4: Patgorski raised to 8,000 and Ronaldo called from the cutoff. The rest of the table folded, leaving the two heads up to the {4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop. Ronaldo checked, Patgorski bet 13,000, and Ronaldo quickly ditched his cards.

Hand #5: An early positioned player made it 8,000 to go and Ronaldo folded before the flop.

Hand #6: Patgorski opened to 10,000 from under the gun and Ronaldo folded from the next seat over.

Hand #7: Ronaldo was under the gun and he folded his cards.

Hand #8: Ronaldo was in the big blind and faced a raise to 11,000. He folded.

Stack at orbit's conclusion: 142,000

This orbit kicked off with excitement as the Brazilian footballer was able to eliminate an opponent from play with pocket aces. He's cruising right along and is in good spirits, despite taking a below average stack into the break. He'll return from break with roughly 142,000 to his name.

Schwartz Flushes Mercier

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Noah Schwartz and Jason Mercier were heads up on a flop of {2-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Spades}. Schwartz checked over to Mercier who fired out 14,000 on the flop. Schwartz flatted and the {5-Spades} fell on fourth street. Schwartz checked again and Mercier followed suit.

The river was the {7-Hearts} and Schwartz dropped out a bet of 23,000. Mercier called and Schwartz tabled {J-Spades}{8-Spades} for a winning spade flush. Mercier took one last peek at his cards.

"Top set?" asked Schwartz.

Mercier indeed rolled over {K-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for top set before tossing his cards into the muck. Schwartz was awarded the pot and now has right around 400,000 in chips.

Linde Five-Bet Shoves Against Rockowitz

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

We didn't catch the opening raise amount but Dylan Linde three-bet to 26,000 and Jesse Rockowitz four-bet to 57,500 leaving himself with 125,000 behind.

Linde took about twenty seconds before announcing that he was all in and Rockowitz snap-folded to give Linde the pot.
