Shaun Deeb Eliminated in 5th Place ($289,880)

Shaun Deeb - 5th Place
Shaun Deeb - 5th Place

Vanessa Selbst raised to 75,000 from the small bind with {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}, Shaun Deeb called in the big blind with {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and the flop fell {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Selbst led out for 60,000, and Deeb raised to 208,000. Selbst re-raised to 465,000, Deeb moved all in for 1.567 million, and Selbst tanked for close to three minutes before calling.

"I leveled myself into calling," Selbst sighed once she saw Deeb's hand.

The {9-Clubs} turned, and Deeb was one card away from shipping a massive double. The dealer rapped the table one final time, then delivered the river card.

It was the {k-Diamonds}.

Selbst looked shocked - appalled even - and immediately reached out to apologize to the fifth-place finisher. He shrugged it off, and the two walked off of the stage to talk.

"Sorry man," she told Deeb. "That's ridiculous. I was just clicking buttons."

Deeb once again forgave her, but we're sure he'll be thinking about this hand for a long time.

Selbst now has a massive lead with over five million chips.

Watson Gets Paid on Quad Aces

Mike Watson
Mike Watson

Mike Watson looked down at {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} under the gun and raised to 65,000. Shaun Deeb then three-bet to 155,000 from the button with {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, the blinds both folded, and Watson just called, bringing about a flop of {Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{9-Spades}.

Watson coyly checked top set, and then just called when Deeb bet 138,000. The dealer proceeded burned and turned the {A-Clubs} to give Watson quads, and he checked to Deeb, who checked behind. When the {2-Diamonds} completed the board on the river, Watson led out for 400,000. Deeb grinned and thought about it for well over a minute before making the call.

"That's the worst call I've ever made," Deeb said after seeing Watson roll over pocket rockets.

He Called With a Queen-High

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Vanessa Selbst opened to 60,000 on the button with {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, Vladimir Troyanivskiy defended in the big blind with {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, and the flop fell {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Spades}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {j-Hearts}, the two knuckled again, and the river was {3-Hearts}. Troyanovskiy checked a third time, Selbst value-bet 70,000, and Troyanovskiy tank-called.

Selbst tabled the winner, and raked in the pot.

Schemion Sliding

Shaun Deeb raised to 65,000 under the gun holding {J-Spades}{8-Spades}, and Vladimir Troyanovskiy called from the cutoff with {A-Spades}{J-}. Ole Schemion then three-bet to 161,000 from the button with {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, Deeb folded, and Troyanovskiy took about a minute before spiking in a big four-bet.

Schemion, who would have to commit the rest of his stack to call, opted to give up on the hand and preserve his remaining stack.

Troyanovskiy with the Five-Bet

Vanessa Selbst opened for 60,000 on the button with {A-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} only to have Vladimir Troyanovskiy three-bet to 140,000 from the small blind with {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Selbst responded with a four-bet to 285,000, and Troyanovskiy pushed back with a five-bet to 490,000, essentially committing himself.

Selbst thought for a bout a minute before releasing her hand.
