Somerville Quickly Goes From Big Stack To Out

Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Two big hands have reversed Jason Somerville's fortunes here in the $100K and he is now on the rail.

In the first, there was a flop of {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Somerville had 54,000 laid out in front of him from the big blind. Anthony Gregg, who has final tabled two PCA Main Events, then raised to 107,000 from the cutoff, and Somerville responded by moving in all in. Gregg quickly called off for 353,000 total and had his opponent crushed.

Showdown
Somerville: {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Gregg: {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Somerville had flopped two pair but it was well behind Gregg's top set. Somerville was in need of running clubs to steal the pot, and he got one on the {8-Clubs} turn. Much to Gregg's relief, another didn't follow as the harmless {2-Hearts} appeared on the river. With that, Somerville was left with just 60,000.

Not long after, Somerville moved all in from early position for around 40,000 and Gregg isolated with a three-bet from the small blind.

Showdown
Gregg: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Somerville: {Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Somerville would receive no help on the dry board and was left shaking his head.
