Mercier Wins One and Loses One

The player under the gun raised to 400, Taylor Paur called from the hijack seat, and Matias Gabrenja called from the cutoff seat. Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier called out of the big blind to complete the preflop action, and the dealer ran out the {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop.

On the flop, Mercier led for 725. The original preflop raiser and Paur both folded, but Gabrenja made the call to see the {K-Diamonds} added on the turn. Mercier bet 2,900, and Gabrenja folded.

Shortly thereafter, Mercier was involved in a five-way pot on the {J-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} flop. The first two players checked, one of which was Paur, then Mercier bet 1,025. The two players behind Mercier called, before the first player and Paur folded. That left three-handed action to fourth street.

On the turn, Mercier fired 2,800 after the {4-Diamonds} landed. The next player folded, but the last player made the call.

The {K-Hearts} completed the board on the river, and Mercier checked. His opponent fired 7,000, which prompted some interesting facial expressions from Mercier. Eventually, the Team Pro folded his hand and slipped back to 25,000 in chips.
