Martin Jacobson Eliminated in 10th Place ($101,000)

Martin Jacobson - 10th place
Martin Jacobson - 10th place

Well, this Martin Jacobson fella is going to win one of these at some point. The man who made headlines around the EPT this past season has come up just shy of a final table bid here at the PCA.

When the table folded to him in the cutoff seat, Jacobson pushed his last 1.41 million into the pot, and Xuan Liu re-shoved two seats over in the small blind. That got them heads up, and Jacobson needed to improve to stay alive.

Showdown
Jacobson: {10-Hearts} {J-Spades}
Liu: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}

The {K-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} flop paired them both, but it kept Liu in front with two to come. The turn was the blank {5-Diamonds}, and Jacobson needed to find one of five outs in a hurry. The river was paint, but it was the {Q-Hearts}, and that's not going to get it done.

Jacobson made three EPT final tables in EPT Season 7, and he almost managed to start 2012 off in typical final-table fashion. But the Swede will have to settle for 10th place this time around, and it's his eighth career six-figure cash.

Liu is back in the top two now, increasing to about 6 million with the knockout.
