The WPT Online Poker Open $30K GTD 8-Max NLH came to an end after four hours of action Tuesday night and it was Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier running his way to the finish line for the first-place prize of $12,812.50.

The event saw 16 players start the tournament with that number steadily increased throughout the tournament as Sherrier outlasted a field of 82 entries at $535 apiece.

The players quickly dwindled and registration ended three levels early as the 82 total entries generated a prize pool of $41,000 which set to pay out to the top 12 players.

Eliminations continued like wild fire as "jerseyman99", "FrankyFunk", Ryan “TheSims” Hohner, and Christopher "Chalmisi6" Hill all took a piece of the pie but fell short of making the final table.

Final Table Action

The end of Level 12 saw Kevin “sofcknsick” Campbell bow out first in eighth place with Michael "Gags30" Gagliano falling next in seventh place after he lost a race to Mike “MistaMenza” Menzer.

A few levels later, Alex “JinYang” Butcher scored a double elimination sending "KevinDurant" out in sixth place and Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd in fifth.

Butcher was the next to drop after he called off his short stack preflop and failed to connect with the runout holding live cards against Sherrier. The very next level saw Menzer take his exit in third place after Sherrier turned a pair of eights and improved to trips on the river.

The heads-up match saw Sherrier hold a commanding chip lead but Jaime "mooseman1710" Reyes won a huge pot before the two players went on break and shifted the tide.

The battle was back-and-forth until Sherrier caught a double and then kept his momentum going eliminating Reyes a few hands later.

PokerNews coverage of the WPT Online Poker Open on the partypoker US Network will continue Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. ET with $215 buy-in Phased $40K GTD 8-Max NLH.
