Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo Dominates Final Table in Event #9

Daniel Lupo
Daniel Lupo

The latest partypoker US Network Online Series event is in the books, and it is another notable who finds their way into the winner's circle, as Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo took down the 92 person event, earning $8,142 for his efforts. Lupo started the final table second in chips, and he scored an early huge double up when he cracked his opponent's pocket aces. From that point on, Lupo never looked back, going wire-to-wire with the chip lead.

First, he won a coin flip to eliminate "Volstragg" in eighth place. However, Lupo would then take one of his only hits at the final table, when eventual runner-up "E.J.D" scored a double up of his own.

Lupo would bounce back not long after, where oddly enough he won another coin flip with two over cards against pocket threes, this time held by "KevinDurant." . Lupo would continue to run well in big flips, when he flopped a full house with pocket sevens to eliminate "youngkoi" in fifth place.

Arguably the biggest hand of the final table occured when Lupo eliminated one of his most persistent foes throughout the final table, "njpainter." Lupo put max pressure on with a shove after he turned a world of outs in this hand, and he made a flush on the river to bust "njpainter"'s top pair.

From there, it would take less than 10 minutes for Lupo to close the event out. First, he busted a short stacked "RUfan" in third, and won the event in style, ater rivering the nuts in the final hand against "E.J.D"

"E.J.D" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($4,082.40)

Blinds: 15,000/30,000

Heads up play could have lasted a while, as both players were deep, but a rather mundane hand exploded on an action packed river, and just like that, the tournament was over!

On the final hand, there was about 550,000 in the middle on the river of a board showing {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}. "E.J.D" bet out 261,234, but Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo wanted to play for more, as he moved all in. "E.J.D" called with {q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for two pair, but it was no good, as Lupo had rivered a straight with {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

"E.J.D" takes home $4,082.40 for second place, while Lupo will earn a first place prize of $8,142. Stay tuned for a full recap to be posted shortly.

"RUfan" Eliminated in 3rd Place ($3,450)

Blinds: 15,000/30,000

"RUfan" had survived a number of all ins, and laddered up a few spots, before ultimately bowing out in third place. On his final hand, "RUfan" would call an all in with {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}, after Lupo had shoved with {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}. A chopped pot seemed likely, but the seven kicker would ultimately play, as the board ran down {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Diamonds} .

With that, we are heads up now, with Lupo holding a significant chip advantage.

"njpainter" Eliminated in 4th Place ($2,594.40)

Blinds: 14,000/28,000

"njpainter" and Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo have been battling all in final table long, and Lupo just got the last laugh, as he just scored a huge knockout to strengthen his hold on this title.

On this hand, the two went heads up to a flop of {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{3-Spades}. Lupo led for 36,930, and called a raise of 132,340 from "njpainter." The {7-Diamonds} hit the turn, and Lupo led out enough to set "njpainter" all in, about 525,000. "njpainter" quickly called with {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} for top pair, while Lupo showed {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for multiple draws. He would hit one of those draws on the {a-Diamonds} river, and after that pot, Lupo has over 80% of the chips in play.

"RUfan" Cracks Aces to Double

Blinds: 14,000/28,000

After a raise to 56,000 from chip leader Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo, "RUfan" moved all in for his final 190,000. Lupo snap called with pocket aces, and he was crushing the {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades} of "RUfan." However, the flop would come down eight high, giving "RUfan" top set, and a much needed lifeline, as he held on to score a small double up.

"youngkoi" Eliminated in 5th Place ($2,001)

Blinds: 12,000/24,000

Following a raise to 52,000 from "youngkoi", Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo moved all in, having everyone else in the hand covered. "youngkoi" would make the call with {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, and he was flipping against the {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades} of Lupo. However, the hand all but ended after the flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} gave Lupo a flopped full house. "youngkoi" would catch a glimmer of hope with a queen on the turn, but a third queen would not appear on the river, sending him to the virtual rail in fifth place.

"njpainter" Doubles Through Lupo

Blinds: 12,000/24,000

In a battle of the blinds, "njpainter" and Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo went heads up to a flop of {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Lupo led for 43,000 and change, and "njpainter" raised it up to 202,000. Lupo called, and both players checked after the {9-Hearts} turn.

The river brought the {2-Diamonds}, and as he has already done a few times this final table, Lupo went for max pressure by setting "njpainter" all in. "njpainter" quickly called with {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for two pair, and Lupo showed king high for complete air.

"KevinDurant" Eliminated in 6th Place ($1,490.40)

Blinds: 12,000/24,000

Action folded around to Daniel “centrfieldr23” Lupo in the small blind, and he moved all in, easily having "KevinDurant" covered. "KevinDurant" would call with pocket threes, which have been a cursed hand so far at this final table, and he was flipping against the {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. Just like other knockout hands, the threes quickly fell behind, as the flop of {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} gave Lupo top pair. His hand would only improve from there, as the {k-Diamonds} on the turn gave him a flush draw, and the {7-Hearts} river gave him an unnecessary two pair.

With that, just five players remain.
