$535 Event #10: $75K GTD Sunday Special 8-Max
Day 1 Completed
The BetMGM Online Series Poker Michigan is now in the books after the latest champion was crowned in Event #10: $75,000 GTD Sunday Special 8-Max. The final event of the series saw an outstanding 217 runners and when the last chance saloon had closed for business it was "dpg123" sitting alone in the winner's circle, pulling in an impressive $20,073 for their victory.
A final table that never slowed down had "dpg123" to thank. The champion started with the lead and instantly lost most of their stack at the start of the last table. That small hurdle did not phase them for even a second as they were instantly blasting during the next pot. "dpg123" fired every chance possible and ran pure enough to back their style. They dropped six people from the final table, absolutely slaughtering their competition without remorse en route to victory.
Once the heads-up portion of this event began, it was a one-sided affair that saw "dpg123" have about 20 times more chips than "Buckho555". The short-stack took their million in chips and quickly began to run it up, hitting over six million in chips in just a few hands to start bridging the gap. That is as far as "Buckho555" could get before "dpg123" started to heat up once more, slapping chips around. "Buckho555" dropped back down and finally picked a spot with sevens versus queen-jack. A queen instantly fell on the flop and "Buckho555" was eliminated, having to settle for runner-up.

Action of the Day
An incredible turnout saw the $75,000 guarantee surpassed in the first level of play and by the time the late registration period had ended, a total prize pool of $108,500 was up for grabs, having 217 runners taking part in the battle. Once late registration ended there were 85 players left in contention and just 40 of those were to find a payday. Two hours later and it was "Cuz1455" being dubbed the bubble boy, locking up at least $779 for all the remaining players who surely had their eyes set on the $20,073 first-place prize.
The bubble popping created a vortex, sucking people from the field at an extremely quick rate. Before they knew it, a final table of eight was forged and "dpg123" was leading the way. The first elimination of the final table was "Jason711" when they ran their pocket sixes into the dimes of "dpg123", dropping in eighth place. Just hands later it was "Scotty2012" taking a shot at the champ with pocket treys. "dpg123" had big slick and the board ran out clean for "Scotty2012" until the river, hitting "dpg123" with a cowboy to send another to the rail.
"Jerry85" then took charge, opening with jacks and "Coolriver84" three-bet jammed, holding ace-king. A jack on the flop saw "Coolriver84" to the door and only five were left. "Jerry85" took their newly acquired chips and elected to go for it all with the chipleader. It was the big slick of "Jerry85" versus pocket nines of the champ and not a bit of paint hit the board, sending a monster chip lead to "dpg123" as "Jerry85" was eliminated.
It was not the biggest pot, but it was the biggest hand of the night when "sportfreak25" shoved king-queen. "dpg123" called with queen-jack of clubs and turned a flush to have "sportfreak25" drawing dead to the river. But to add insult to injury a ten of clubs landed to give "dpg123" a royal flush. Three-handed play was two tiny stacks and one big monster. "georgejanssen" was the first to take a stand, shoving with ace-six only for "dpg123" to snap with ace-king, and the rest is history.
"Buckho555" began the heads-up match faced with a massive chip deficit as "dpg123" had around 20 times their chips. A one-sided heads-up match to start quickly began to get interesting when "Buckho555" ran their million stack up to six before "dpg123" caught fire once more. The chips quickly funneled from the stack of "Buckho555" who moved what they had left in with a pair of sevens versus the queen-jack of "dpg123". A queen-high flop was enough to scoop the final pot of the night for "dpg123" and "Buckho555" was eliminated as the runner-up, taking home a respectable $15,570 for their efforts.
The weeklong series wound up catering to a combined 2,229 entries across its 10 events while awarding $374,102 in prize money.
On Sunday, two other winners were crowned as "ivegotstylekid" topped a 519-entry field to win Event #8: $5K GTD 8-Max Mini NLH for $1,618.43, while "Zzulran" bested a 501-entry field to win Event #9: $20K GTD Sunday 1/2 Price 8-Max for $8,442.20.
