Day 2 of the €1 million guaranteed 2017 partypoker LIVE MILLION Germany €1,100 Main Event at King's Casino Rozvadov was a huge success. The day began with 299 hopefuls competing out of the 820 entrants participating in the seven opening days. By the end of the day, the field was trimmed down to just 26 players.
Local Czech player Michal Mrakeš leads the way after Day 2 with 8.255 million chips closely followed by German WSOP gold bracelet winner Eddy Scharf with 7.955 million. A little luck helped Mrakeš along as in a hand he became the first player to reach the 4 million chip count after his ace-seven eliminated two players holding ace-queen.
Shortly after the dinner break, the money bubble broke with the remaining 100 players guaranteed at least a €2,000 payout. Partypoker Sponsored pro Natalia Breviglieri, who is still among the players returning for tomorrow's final day, eliminated Czech Republic's Ondrej Már after her pocket queens held against her opponents ace-king.
Other players to fall short of the money during Day 2 included partypoker Sponsored Pros Anatoly Filatov and Jan-Peter Jachtmann. Despite falling short in the Main Event, both players have had a remarkable festival with Filatov shipping the High Roller yesterday for €42,000 as part of a three-way deal and Jachtmann winning over €61,000 in a televised cash game on Thursday.
Meanwhile, players to cash in the tournament but not advance to Day 3 included Rehman Kassam and Kuljinder "Kully" Sidhu who were eliminated during the same hand in 65th and 64th places respectfully to bank €3,200.
Also eliminated in the money on Day 2 were former EPT Grand Final winner Jan Bendik (46th - €4,000), Tomas Fara (45th - €4,500) and James Akenhead (40th - €4,500).
Main Event action will resume tomorrow at noon local time. The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to report all big hands and bad beats until a winner is crowned.
Also taking place tomorrow is the Turbo Day 1b flight of the partypoker LIVE MILLION €1,100 No Limit Hold'em 8-Max. The tournament has currently attracted 104 entrants and needs another 96 to join the turbo Day 1b field at noon tomorrow to meet its huge €200,000 guaranteed prize pool. The second and final day of this event will kick off minutes after Day 1b is completed.
Eddy Scharf entered the pot with a raise to 225,000 from second position, and Daniel Malek in the cutoff moved all-in for around 800,000. Lukas Jebany in the small blind moved in over the top for 1.7 million, and Eddy Scharf with the bigger stack quickly made the call.
Daniel Malek:
Lukas Jebany:
Eddy Scharf:
The WSOP bracelet holder was a favorite to secure a late night double knock-out, and that was exactly what happened as the dealer completed the board.
Scharf is now the overwhelming chip leader with more than three times the average stack. A cautious guess on Scharf's massive stack would be around 7.5 million.
British poker pro James Akenhead was just eliminated in 40th place. As he open-jammed , his friend Ludovic Geilich popped over to see how things were going.
Seconds later, Akenhead was called by Grzegorz Gosk holding .
Akenhead stood up after the flop despite having top pair and runner-runner straight and flush draws. The on the turn gave Gosk a set, but also opened up more outs for Akenhead. The was the nail in the coffin and Akenhead was eliminated in 41st place for €4,500.
Meanwhile, Gosk's chip stack soared to 2.65 million.
Jan Bendik is no more in this partypoker LIVE Million Germany Main Event after losing a big pot to German poker veteran Eddy Scharf. Scharf opened to 150,000 and a player flatted before Jan Bendik reraised to 475,000 out of the small blind. Just Scharf made the call.
The flop came down and Bendik lead out for 475,000, Scharf put Bendik to the test for around 900,000 more and Bendik committed the rest of his stack.
Scharf:
Bendik:
Scharf had flopped top set, but Bendik had outs to the flush. The gave the Slovak additional outs to make a straight, but the river paired the board and sent the pot to the 2001 Fixed Limit Omaha bracelet winner.
The very next hand Miroslav Janek was sent packing as well when he ran into the of Jaroslav Peter, and that leaves just 44 players left in this tournament.
Two British players, Kuljinder "Kully" Sidhu and Rehman Kassam, were just eliminated during the same hand by Sandro Pitzanti.
Sidhu jammed for 1 million from the button with queen-eight offsuit. Pitzanti jammed over the top from the small blind with pocket jacks and Kassam called with pocket nines.
The board ran all blanks giving Pitzanti a huge pot and eliminating Kassam and Sidhu in 65th and 64th place respectfully for €3,200.
Meanwhile, Pitzanti's stack grew to almost 3 million in chips.
It took just two hands of hand-for-hand play before the bubble burst, and what better place to have it happen than on the feature table in the biggest card room in Europe.
Ondrej Mar opened the action from the hijack for 65,000 with and partypoker Sponsored Pro Natalia Breviglieri three-bet out of the small blind to 150,000. Mar thought about it for a moment or two before announcing all-in for 738,000, and Breviglieri instantly made the call. By that time a crowd of reporters, players, and bystanders had gathered around the feature table area to see the potential last hand of bubble play being dealt.
The flop kept Breviglieri ahead in the crucial pot, but Mar still had six outs to prolong the hand-for-hand play. He did not after the hit the turn, and a visibly excited Breviglieri was all smiles as she had Mar drawing dead to the river. The meaningless river came , and Breviglieri raked in the massive pot and secured herself and 99 other players a payday of at least €2,000, while Mar got the painful privilege of becoming the 2017 partypoker LIVE Million Germany Main Event bubble boy.
"Ondrej and I have a lot of history, as we spend two days straight playing at the partypoker Grand Prix Germany a month ago. We have been three- and four-betting each other constantly today as well, so it was evident the money would go in," Breviglieri explained the minutes after the money was reached.
With that massive pot, Breviglieri is among the chip leaders of the tournament, sporting a stack of around 2.1 million.
A Yehuda vs. Yehuda battle just took place. The action folded around to Yehuda Cohen on the button, otherwise known as chiKKita banana or Chikkita for short, who made a small raise.
Yehuda Bardugo with a short stack jammed from the small blind. Chikkita asked Bardugo how many chips he had. Bardugo responded 275,000. Chikkita asked if he was sure since a few hands before he lost some chips calling off with five-three when a player claimed to be super short in chips and quoted an amount of half of what he actually had.
Chikkita called after he appeared satisfied that his opponent gave an honest assessment of the size of his chip stack.
Chikkita:
Bardugo:
Chikkita gave a fist-pump when a queen appeared on the flop as Bardugo began to stand-up. To add insult to injury, another queen came on the river to give Chikkita quads.
Chikkita, who dipped below 1 million in chips piled up enough chips to get back over this threshold after the hand while Bardugo finished just shy of the money with 142 players now remaining and 100 getting paid at least the minimum payout of €2,000.
Partypoker Sponsored Pro Anatoly Filatov was just eliminated from the tournament in a quick fashion. The first hand he lost with was jack-nine against pocket kings. Then he lost a hand he was favored to win when his ace-queen was unable to hold against his opponent's ace-four.
After those two hands, Filatov's stack was fairly low. He then lost twice in flip situations when his king-jack was unable to improve against his opponent's ace-ten and his king-queen couldn't out flip pocket eights.
Despite Filatov missing out on a cash in the Main Event, he has had a good poker festival as yesterday he won the partypoker LIVE MILLION Germany €2,200 High Roller for €42,000 as part of a three-way deal.
Natalia Breviglieri was just involved in a three-way all-in on a flop that if she won, she would have been among the chip leaders.
The partypoker Sponsored pro was holding for an overpair. An opponent she had covered was holding a top pair and a flush with while an opponent that had her covered was holding a better flush draw with .
Breviglieri's advantage in the hand turned sour when a appeared on the turn giving one of her opponents a trio of sevens. The appeared on the river giving Breviglieri a side pot worth 300,000 which is more than she started Day 2 with. However, this is a small consolation considering the main pot worth 800,000 went to one of her opponents.
With players from Day 1a through Day 1g joining together, the Day 2 field of the €1M guaranteed partypoker LIVE MILLION Germany Main Event is sure to be a battle of the highest level. A lot of familiar faces are at the King's Casino in Rozvadov today, where qualifiers from both the online and live heats will be combined for a final showdown for the very first time.
Current chip leader going into Day 2 is German player Jung Dirg, who amassed an impressive 1,227,100 chips after 12 levels of play on Day 1a. He is still the only player to break into seven figures, but a lot of players are chasing his tail with Czech Josef Antoš as the closest contender with 950,000. Both men will have high hopes of making Day 3 with a chip count to challenge for the €200,000 top prize, but they'll have plenty of company in the chasing pack from their opening days at the felt.
