Schillhabel Triples with Aces

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

The action folded to Stefan Schillhabel on the button who pushed all in again for 1.7 million. Both Jonathan Little and Preben Stokkan called from the blinds.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} and both players checked to the {q-Spades} on the turn. Little led out for 1.5 million and Stokkan folded. Schillhabel tabled {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} and Little was behind with {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The {a-Spades} on the river improved Schillhabel's hand to a full house and he earned himself a triple up.

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

Stefan Schillhabel was down to less than five big blind and pushed all in for 900,000 from the cutoff. Preben Stokkan was in the small blind and announced all in over the top.

Stefan Schillhabel: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Preben Stokkan: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

Schillhabel stayed alive when the board ran out {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} but still remained with just 11 big blinds.

Stokkan Ships the River

Level 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante

The action folded to Preben Stokkan on the button who raised to 425,000. Kenny Hallaert called from the big blind and the flop came {9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}. Hallaert check-called a bet of 600,000 from Stokkan and the {j-Spades} peeled off on the turn.

Hallaert checked again and Stokken bet 1.8 million, which Hallaert called. The {7-Spades} on the river completed the board and Hallaert checked for the third time. Stokkan announced all in, essentially putting Hallaert at risk, but he quickly elected to fold.

Sontheimer Spikes an Ace to Double Up

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

The action folded to Steffen Sontheimer on the button who pushed all in for 2.32 million. Sergio Aido was in the big blind and instantly made the call. When the cards were tabled, it was Aido in the lead with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs} against Sontheimer's {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}.

The flop fell {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and Sontheimer jumped out front with a pair of aces. The {6-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Hearts} on the river changed nothing and Sontheimer doubled through Aido.

Papazian Closes the Gap on Stokkan

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

With hand-for-hand play currently in progress, the action had been rather slow until Alexandru Papazian and Preben Stokkan collided. Papazian raised to 350,000 from the cutoff and Stokkan defended his big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Stokkan check-called a bet of 325,000 from Papazian.

The {4-Clubs} hit the turn and Stokkan checked again. Papazian fired 1.49 million and Stokkan called. The river landed the {a-Hearts} and Stokkan checked for the third time. Papazian reached back for a bet of 2.58 million and Stokkan instantly called. Papazian tabled {q-Clubs}{8-Spades} for two pair and Stokkan sent his cards to the muck.

2013 Main Event Champion Riess Eliminated

Level 18 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Ryan Riess
Ryan Riess

The action folded around to Ryan Riess in the small blind who moved all in for his short stack of 1.545 million. Kenny Hallaert was in the big blind and looked down at his cards, one at a time, and made the call.

Kenny Hallaert: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Ryan Riess: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The flop came {7-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} and Riess was still out front with two pair. However, the {a-Diamonds} on the turn paired Hallaert's ace and the {6-Spades} on the river sealed the deal. Riess was eliminated and the remaining 12 players are now on the money bubble.

Stokkan Scores a Double KO

Level 17 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Roberto Romanello
Roberto Romanello

After eliminating Barry Hutter to start the day, Preben Stokkan was moved to the left of Jonathan Little as the new chip leader. A few hands later, Roberto Romanello moved all in for 1.71 million from under the gun and Michael Watson announced all in for 4.29 million directly to his left. Preben Stokkan was in the cutoff and thought for a couple of minutes before pushing all in as well.

"I hope you guys both have ace-king," Romanello said.

Preben Stokkan: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Michael Watson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Roberto Romanello: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Romanello was in a good position to triple up with both of his opponents holding the same cards. The {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop was safe for Romanello but the {3-Clubs} on the turn provided some straight and flush draws for his opponents. The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Stokkan made the nut flush to eliminate Romanello and Watson.
