Slate Doubles Through Guidry

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Mike Guidry raised to 2,600 in the cutoff and got one caller, Michael Slate in the big blind. Slate was short with just 12,600 left after the preflop call.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Slate immediately moved all-in. Guidry snap-called and the hands were turned up.

Slate - {q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Guidry - {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Guidry's kings were ahead but the {j-Hearts} on the turn gave Slate a few more outs to a straight. The river came the {q-Hearts} to fill up Slate and put a modest dent in Guidry's stack.

You Can't Catch Alan Misenheimer

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Four players saw the flop for 2,000 each.

The flop was {5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and two players checked. The third player moved all-in for 7,600 and Alan Misenheimer called behind him. The two players who checked folded.

"I gotta catch up," the at-risk player said turning over {7-Spades}{3-Spades} for a gut-shot straight draw.

"You can't catch up," replied Misenheimer who tabled {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.

The turn and the river were meaningless and Misenheimer collected the pot and sent his opponent to the rail.

Mike Delavergne

A middle position player opened the pot for 3,000 and Mike Delavergne three-bet to 7,000 from the hijack. The initial raiser called and the two players saw a flop of {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

The middle position player checked and Delavergne continued for 9,000. His opponent called.

The dealer added the {4-Spades} to the board, and again the initial raiser checked.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The action folded around to the button, who moved all-in for 17,500. The small blind folded and Mark Burford in the big blind went into the tank.

After counting down his stack (40,000), Burford thought some more. After two minutes, Burford finally committed the chips to call and the hands were turned up.

Burford - {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Opponent - {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}

The board ran out clean for Burford, which came {k-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, sending his opponent to the rail.

After the hand, Burford said, "It was just such a big raise. Why would you raise that much with a good hand?"
