Logan Hoover Shoves On Tommy Tompkins

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The board read {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Tommy Tompkins, who is among the chip leaders, checked to Logan Hoover.

There was about 140,000 in the pot already and Hoover shoved for slightly less, around 120,000.

Tompkins checked his cards again, debated for a second, and then folded.

"You got me? Is that why you went all in," he asked as he mucked his cards.

Tompkins Chipping Up

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Tommy Tompkins started the day with 120,000, but he's more than tripled his stack since the day started. In his latest pot, Tompkins was heads-up in a pot with Greg Robinson. The flop read {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Tompkins checked. Robinson bet 40,000 into the 60,000 pot and Tompkins called.

The dealer added the {2-Diamonds} to the board, and both players checked.

The river came the {6-Clubs} and Tompkins bet out 55,000. Robinson checked his hole cards one last time and then mucked.

On an adjacent table, Stuart McNahen is sitting on 606,000 after starting the day with 108,500.

"I won a pot to get up to 185,000 and since then I've been catching everything," McMahen said. "I keep betting but I'm running so good, they just don't believe me."

Schmidt Doubles, Taylor Out

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

With 30 to go before we're in the money, many on short stacks are feeling the pressure. On table 11, Brian Schmidt open-shoved for 46,000 and Ben Taylor reshoved for just under 70,000.

Schmidt held {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and was up against Taylor's {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}. The board ran out {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} to give Schmidt the double-up.

Taylor was left with just 19,000 and he open-shoved on the next hand. Frank Kirkpatrick, on Taylor's left, three-bet to 45,000, and everyone else folded.

Taylor said, "I think you have me," turning over {3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Kirkpatrick tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

"You have live cards, at least," another player quipped.

The board ran out clean for Kirkpatrick when it came {q-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, eliminating Taylor from the tournament.

Mike Guidry limped for 5,000 in early position and Tomas Teran made it 14,000 to go from the hijack. Johnny Donnelly in the small blind moved all-in for 30,000 straight. The big blind got out of the way and both Guidry and Teran called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. Guidry checked and Teran checked behind. Both players checked down the {10-Hearts} turn and {3-Spades} river and the hands were revealed.

Teran showed {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} while Guidry held {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Both were behind Donnelly's {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Donnelly tripled up.
