Phillips Fighting Back
Usually when we spot Carter Phillips in an event, he's one of the more active players in the field. Yesterday, Phillips sat back and played tight, solid poker to help build his stack to one of the top counts to finish out the day. Here on Day 2, he's opened up his game a little more and looks like the Carter Phillips we all know. Phillips recently lost a pot to David Benyamine, but has since been fighting back to get his stack back to where it was.
On the flop of , Benyamine checked and Phillips fired 10,000. Benyamine made the call and the two went to a turn where the fell on board. Benyamine checked again to the aggressive youngster. Phillips fired out 22,000 and this time Benyamine mucked his hand.
On the next hand, Phillips opened with a raise from early-middle position, making it 3,500 to go. Tafyun Rodoplu flatted from the hijack seat before Ori Miller reraised from the cutoff to 10,500. Action moved back over to Phillips and he took a little bit of time before firing back a four-bet to 27,000. Rodoplu quickly got out of the way, but Miller took a bit longer to muck his hand. Phillips scooped the pot and now has his stack back to 180,000 in chips.
