All Hail

"God, I hate this hand," said Phil Hellmuth, looking down at his cards from his position under the gun. "Okay, new Phil limps," he continued, tossing the two black chips into the middle of the table. The player on the button and both blinds would come along with him to create four-way action.

The dealer spread out a flop of {10-Spades} {6-Spades} {7-Spades}, and the two blinds checked. Hellmuth flicked 300 chips into the pot casually, enough to fold the button. The blinds would match the bet, though, and the turn card brought the {3-Hearts}. Hellmuth was allowed to bet once again, 1,000 this time, and the two blinds again called.

The last card off was the {5-Diamonds}, and the small blind checked. The big blind, however, fired out 2,500 at the pot. Hellmuth shot a sideways glance at his opponent before saying, "Raise it up." He tossed 7,000 chips into the middle of the felt, and the small blind quickly folded. The big blind shrugged and smirked, seemingly amused by the spot he was in, and he made the call with {8-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} for the nut straight.

It was no good; Hellmuth tabled {A-Spades} {J-Spades} for the big flush, dragging in his first sizable pot of the day. That moves him up above the chip average to about 24,000.
