Negreanu Falls from Top Spot

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

It's not that often that one player can overcome another in such a big way while playing different events on the same day in two completely separate places, but it has happened today. Thanks to his win earlier in the year at the 2011 PCA Super High Roller, Daniel Negreanu claimed the top spot on the all-time money list for live tournament cashes. Erik Seidel has had himself one heck of a year so far, earning $3,592,283 in 2011 already. That's good enough to have put him in second place behind Negreanu on the all-time money list. How far behind? Just $168,895.

If you've been following our coverage of the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship, you know that Seidel has made it to the finals and will face Chris Moneymaker for the $750,000 first-place prize. Making it to the finals alone has earned Seidel $300,000 in prize money, meaning he has now officially passed Negreanu on the all-time money list. With his guaranteed cash of $300,000, Seidel now has $14,247,297 in live tournament earnings. Negreanu has $14,116,192 to his name and as of right now, that's only good enough for second place. Still, Negreanu will have all week in this event to try and retake the lead, but for now it's all Seidel at the top of the mountain.
