Just For PokerNews!

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Dongwoo Ko
Dongwoo Ko

The board read 210J27 with around 25,000 in the middle.

Dongwoo Ko fired a bet of 32,000 out on the river from the big blind and stared out in front of him. Joe Tehan was in the tank on the button and went through all the options in his head. After a while, he opted to fold.

"Just for PokerNews!" Ko said with a huge smile before flipping his Q3 open for the bluff.

"What are you guys doing?" Richard Alati exclaimed, who had stayed behind to watch the end of the hand while the rest of the tournament had gone for their dinner break.

"I was so close!" Tehan said with some despair in his voice before showing the 33 which would have won him the hand.

Ko just smiled even more while raking in the pot.

Ryan Laplante: 99
Joe Tehan: 1010

The flop came 9A6 for Laplante to hit a set.

The turn was the 10 for Tehan to hit the higher set before the 8 on the river didn't change the outcome.

Arden Cho
Arden Cho

Arden Cho raised from the cutoff, William Te three-bet from the small blind, and Cho four-bet jammed for 11,800. Te called.

Arden Cho: 66
William Te: AK

The two were racing as the J104 flop gave Te additional outs with a Broadway draw. The 2 turn and 9 river bricked out, however, and Cho secured the double with her sixes.

Joyace Owens
Joyace Owens

Just before the break started, Chistina Gollins took her seat on the same table as Maria Konnikova. Joyace Owens has been seated at the table next to it since the start of the tournament.

She had limped in from the early position for Liran Betito to shove on the button. The blinds folded and Owens asked for a count. The dealer confirmed Betito had 6,200 in front of him. Owens called.

Liran Betito: K9
Joyace Owens: A5

The flop came 29K for Betito to hit two pair.

The turn was the 5 for Owens to hit a pair of her own, but the A on the river gave her the higher two pair to eliminate Betito for now.

According to the table, Dongwoo Ko opened to 600 in the cutoff, Rich Alati flatted the button, and Ryan Monahan defended the big blind.

The dealer fanned out the A42 flop and Monahan checked. Ko bet 1,000, Alati raised to 3,000, and Monahan jammed for about 16,000. Ko folded and Alati called.

Ryan Monahan: 44
Rich Alati: AK

The 2 fell on the turn and Monahan gave a fist pump as he made a full house, but the A spiked the river to give Alati a superior full house, and Monahan was eliminated.
