Ivey, Ahead on Every Street, Collects Value

At times it seems like Phil Ivey remains in this tournament simply because he wants to be here. If for some reason that attitude changed -- for example, if Tiger Woods fails to make the cut tomorrow -- it almost seems like Ivey would find something else to do.

For the moment, Ivey remains a fixture in the tournament, his attention divided between his table and the giant screen showing the Masters. He's become a bit more active recently, opening more pots. He opened to 6,000 and was called only by the big blind. Ivey continued for 9,000 on a flop of {9-Spades} {J-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and the big blind called again.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn. When the river came {Q-Diamonds}, the big blind bet 12,700. Ivey quickly called. His pair of queens, {Q-Clubs} {K-Spades} out-kicked his opponent's {Q-Spades} {10-Spades}.

"I guess I needed a king and not a queen," his opponent said after the hand.
