Mercier Plays Back At Jaka

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier raised to 2,800 under the gun. Faraz Jaka re-raised to 7,500 on the button and the blinds both got out of the way. Mercier four-bet, making it 20,200 and Jaka made the call.

The flop came down {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Mercier bet 24,800. Jaka popped it to 50,000 and Mercier quickly shoved, getting an even quicker fold from Jaka to take down the pot.

Mercier took the chip lead with 221,400 while Jaka slipped to 167,100

Glantz Puts Vazquez To The Test

Matt Glantz raised to 2,600 in the cutoff and Luis "Bachy" Vazquez called from the big blind.

The flop came down {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs}. Vazquez check-called 4,000 from Glantz. The {5-Diamonds} turn card was again checked by "Bachy" and Glantz fired 11,000. Vazquez called and the {4-Clubs} fell on the river. Vazquez checked once again and Glantz shoved, having his man covered.

"Bachy" gave it up and Glantz took the pot.

Another Pot For Jaka

Faraz Jaka made it 3,000 to go in the cutoff and Sam Stein called from the small blind.

The flop came down {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and both checked, delivering the {2-Spades} on the turn. Stein bet 4,300 and Jaka called, landing the {A-Hearts} on the river. Stein bet 7,600 and Jaka took a minute before making the call. Stein showed {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and Jaka tabled {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for aces and queens to win another pot.

Bachy Bluffed by Jaka

Matt Glantz raised to 3,000 from middle position before action moved over to Faraz Jaka on the button. He reraised to 8,000. Luis "Bachy" Vazquez made the call out of the small blind and Glantz folded, leaving Vazquez and Jaka heads up to the flop.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Vazquez checked. Jaka checked behind. The turn paired the board with the {J-Spades} and Vazquez fired 11,000. Jaka made the call before the river card produced the {6-Clubs}. Vazquez fired 19,000. Jaka took a moment and then raised, making it 81,000 to go. Vazquez went into the tank for a little while. He seemed really confused by the raise from Jaka and eventually folded his hand, showing that he was letting the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} go. Jaka showed only the {3-Clubs}, meaning there was no way he could beat Vazquez's trip jacks.

Jaka is up to 223,000 while "Bachy" slips to 77,600.

Glantz Dodges Jaka's Quads

Matt Glantz raised to 2,700 on the button and Faraz Jaka defended his big blind.

The flop came down {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} and Jaka checked. Glantz bet 3,500 and was quickly raised to 8,500 by Jaka. Glantz called and the turn was the {Q-Hearts}. Jaka bet 13,000 and Glantz didn't go anywhere, making the call. The river was the {6-Diamonds} and Jaka checked. Glantz checked behind and Jaka tabled {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts} having made quads on the river, but was unable to get Glantz to bite.

Jaka is the early chip leader.
