Event 8: The Monster NLH has come to an end after an exciting day that saw 110 entries play down to a winner in about 12 hours of play.
That winner was a familiar name in Mark Cortez who added another big score here in Houston to his poker resume with the $10,010 grand prize. Back in late January of this year, Cortez won the Main Event for $81,000.

Cortez entered the final table tied for the chip lead and would hold firm toward the top of the counts for most of the table.
In the heads up battle, Cortez was able to hold off a rally from Jason Lang, who initially erased a big deficit to even up the chip counts. Cortez would be able to pull away again though and finish Lang off on the dramatic final hand.
