Alomar Tops Flight, Aloi Locks Up Healthy Bag

Damiano Aloi

Day 1b of the Lex Live Main Event, running at Casino Barcelona, has now reached its conclusion. A total of 92 entries were made to the flight and 25 players bagged and tagged for Day 2.

Jaume Alomar of Spain topped the field and bagged 273,000 chips. Alomar is a regular on the local circuits around Spain and has five figure scores under his name, including a third place finish in the Estrellas Poker Tour back in 2012 worth 50,000 and a string of more recent, albeit smaller cashes.

Close behind in second place is Pablo Garcia, also from Spain, with 266,000. Garcia is on track for his biggest cash if he can grow his stack throughout Day 2.

All the way from Australia, Damiano Aloi finished the flight in third place with 237,000. Aloi has plenty of experience locking up cashes in Australia and only has a handful of scores on this side of the pond, which came from Lex Live London in 2019. The football manager and poker Twitch streamer is all set for a much bigger score in this year's edition of the event.

Lex Veldhuis also jumped in the mix, late registering for the Main Event, losing a few small pots, doubling up, then losing an all-in after reshoving from the big blind.

Jordi Granell Diaz of Spain, who topped Day 1a, still stands as the overall chip leader with 313,000 with one more flight to go.

The are now 235 combined entries and the prize pool currently stands at 91,650, with 60 players already through.

Day 1c is expected to be the busiest flight, so those numbers should balloon by the time late registration closes at the start of Day 2.

Alomar Gets Huge Double After Preflop Mishap

Level 14 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Ariel Faskowicz had 14,000 in the middle preflop from the button and Jaume Niell Alomar reraised to 45,000 from the small blind. Faskowicz made the call, but thought his opponent was all in and exposed his cards, AK.

The floor was called and tournament director ruled that the call stands and action was to continue.

The flop came 104J and Alomar quickly shoved all in for 56,000, knowing his opponent's hand. This created an interesting situation and Faskowicz clearly wasn't believing it. He made the call.

Alomar flipped over KK for pocket kings. The turn came the 7 and river the 5. Alomar held to win the pot and double up his stack.

Chrostowski Doubles With Quads

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Action was on the river on a board of 66898. Damiano Aloi checked and Kamil Chrostowski pushed all in for around 55,000. Aloi went deep into the tank and started running through his opponent's possible hands.

"This might be the sickest hero call," said Aloi, who hesitated for another moment before placing his chips in the middle for the call.

Chrostowski wasn't bluffing though. He flipped over 99 for quad nines and won a huge pot from Aloi, who moments before was leading the flight. Chrostowski doubled his stack and joined the top five.

Damiano Aloi
Damiano Aloi

Damiano Aloi, who was already the chip leader in the flight, continued his rampage with back to back knockouts.

In the first hand, he made a flush and put his shorter stacked opponent all in to win the pot. His opponent sat in shock for a moment before leaving the table.

The very next hand, Aloi was in a multiway pot and his opponent in the big blind shoved all in with a pair of nines on a jack high flop. Aloi called with AJ and held with his pair of jacks to win the pot and eliminate yet another player.

He now has over 200,000 in chips.

Ivanov Doubles With Loose Shove

Level 9 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Hristofor Ivanov open raised to 2,500 from middle position, the button called and Damiano Aloi, known online as Dammo_23, three-bet to 7,000. Marco Sposito flat called in the big blind, then Ivanov four-bet all in for 48,000. The button and small blind folded, leaving just Sposito in the pot, who eventually made the call.

"No, don't call!", said Ivanov, "I am very not strong."

Players flipped over their cards, with Ivanov at risk.

Hristofor Ivanov: 98
Marco Sposito: 55

"What the fuck?", said Aloi, who had already folded his hand.

The board ran out 1010J37. Ivanov picked up a straight draw on the flop and the river completed his straight. He won the pot and doubled up. The pair laughed across the table as the chips moved to Ivanov.

Aloi gestured that he had folded pocket sevens, which means he would have made a full house. In any case, Ivanov brought his stack up to around 100,000.
