Negreanu Busts Mahoney in Massive Hand

Wow. Wow! WOW! Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu just eliminated Patrick Mahoney in a massive, massive hand.

The action started with Caio Cesar Pimenta raising from early position to 10,500. Negreanu made the call from the cutoff seat and then action folded to Mahoney in the big blind. He put in a three-bet to 36,500. Pimenta got out of the way before Negreanu made the call.

The flop produced the {Q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Mahoney led with a bet of 38,000. Negreanu didn't go anywhere and stayed in with a call to see fourth street. On the turn, the {J-Clubs} landed on the board and Mahoney checked. Negreanu opted to check behind and give a free river card.

On the river, the {5-Hearts} fell. Mahoney took a few seconds and then checked. Negreanu began counting out chips and arranged them next to his stack. He then slid out a bet of 77,000. After a few moments, Mahoney check-raised all in, verbally announcing his action. Negreanu's headphones came flying off of his head as he exclaimed, "Really?!?!"

A short few moments later, he pointed at Mahoney's stack while looking towards the dealer and said, "Count it."

The dealer began breaking down Mahoney's chip stack. He counted it out and added things up to 197,500. Negreanu confirmed the count and then tanked for a little prior to saying, "Doesn't seem possible."

After a couple minutes in the tank, Negreanu mentioned, "I don't have a clue yet... and that's not good."

Another couple minutes passed and Negreanu began thinking out loud as he so often does at the table when he's in tank situations. "You could have like ace-king with the ace of clubs," he said. "That, or the nuts."

Another few moments went by before he questioned, "Would you do that with aces? That might be, you might have aces."

Some more time passed and then Negreanu mentioned that he felt Mahoney might be from Canada. He corrected himself and said maybe the East Coast of the United States. This is when Mahoney broke his silence and responded to tell Negreanu he wasn't from either. Negreanu took some more time and then seemed to have an epiphany of sorts.

"Oh my god!" he said. "I just remember if I lose, I can still do this tonight!" and acted out some dance moves. "If I lose, I can just go to Carnival," he went on. Mahoney gave a smirk, while the rest of the table laughed at Negreanu's comment. Then Negreanu said, "I have to call," and made the call.

"You win," was all Mahoney could say. After that, Negreanu tabled the {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for two pair, sixes and fives. Mahoney showed the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades} for ace high and Negreanu won the pot.

Negreanu had Mahoney covered and raked in the massive amount of chips. When it was all said and done, Negreanu's stack sat right around 625,000 in chips. That's a ridiculous amount and has Negreanu over three times the average stack.
