Felipe Ramos parts with most of his stack
Felipe Ramos parts with most of his stack

While the rest of the room was waiting for hand-for-hand play to begin, Table 6 was holding up the works with a big one in progress.

It began with Felipe Ramos opening to 9,000, and he found calls in three places including Vincenzo Giannelli on the button. The flop brought {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {6-Clubs}, and Ramos continued out with another 13,000. Giannelli was the only caller now, and it was heads up to the {Q-Hearts} turn. Ramos asked his opponent how much he was playing (just less than 160,000 behind), then made a bet of 20,000. Giannelli called once again.

The {7-Spades} completed the board, and Ramos was first to act. He and Giannelli were close in chips, and Ramos announced his shove all in. Giannelli had 137,500 chips left now, and he spent just a few seconds making sure before announcing the big call for his own tournament life. He showed up {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, and Ramos sunk in his chair.

We never got to see what the man from São Paulo held. After mucking and paying off his debt, Ramos is left with just 7,000 lonely chips and a frown that is not going anywhere for now.
