"Seis Mil"
Knowing the value of your chips is important as Dennis Phillips learned in a recent hand. There was about 800 in the pot with a board reading when Phillips tossed two chips into the pot.
"Seis mil," the dealer announced, which translates to six thousand.
"Whoa," Phillips shouted, apparently not aware he had bet so much. "Can I take it back?" The dealer explained the bet would stand and Phillips seemed anguished. His opponent, who was clearly put off by such a large overbet, quickly mucked. Phillips flashed the and added, "I had two pair." Maybe it wasn't a mistake afterall.
