Eugeniu Barbaros Leads Record Breaking Irish Open Main Event With 16 Players Left
Day 3 of the €1,150 Irish Open Main Event, running at the Royal Dublin Society, has now reached its conclusion and tomorrow the tournament will play down to a winner.
The event attracted a total of 2,491 entrants, making for a prize pool of €2,428,475. This is, as a matter of craic, the biggest ever Irish Open Main Event and the biggest poker tournament ever held in Ireland.
160 players came back for Day 3 and the field was whittled down to the final 16 players by the end of the day.
Carl Shaw started Day 2 as chip leader and has progressed all the way to the last two tables, currently sitting in sixth place. Benny Glaser, who won the €5,000 High Roller earlier in the series, is also still in contention, as are Andy Black and other familiar faces.
Eugeniu Barbaros is the current chip leader with 9,750,000. He's followed by Panagiotis Mavritsakis who has 6,375,000, and in third place is Tom Waters with 6,300,000.

Play will resume tomorrow at 1 p.m. local time. Blinds will be on 100,000/200,000 with a 200,000 big blind ante and levels will run for 60 minutes.
The next player to be eliminated will walk away with €18,000 and the eventual winner is set to take home €365,000.
