Simpson Back at It
Ian Simpson did not make it through to Day 2 on Day 1a, but that did not deter him from being right on time today on Day 1b.
He was involved in a three-way pot with Arto Mansner and Daniel Silverman. There were 900 chips in the middle on a flop that read . Small blind Mansner and big blind Silverman checked to Simpson in the cutoff, who fired a pot-sized bet of 900. Only Mansner called, and the two saw a turn.
On the turn, Simpson upped his sizing after being checked to, this time choosing for an overbet of 3,500. Mansner was not going anywhere and quickly made the call.
The river fell and now Mansner took the initiative by leading for 7,000. Simpson snap called and got shown that Mansner was playing the straight on the board with his holding. However, Simpson had a higher straight with and thus raked in an early sizable pot.
