Cuny Shows Before the River
From under the gun, David Sands raised to 2,600. Ray Cuny called from the cutoff seat, and Igor Yaroshevsky called from the big blind. The flop came , and Yaroshevsky checked. Sands bet 2,800, Cuny called, and Yaroshevsky folded.
The turn was the , and Sands bet 6,500. The 91-year-old Cuny put in a raise to 20,000, and Sands made the call to see the river. Before the dealer could burn and turn for the final community card, Cuny announced "full house" and began to table his hand. The other players at the table quickly stopped him from turning his hand over, but it seemed the damage had been done, at least to his value if he did have a full house and Sands was willing to pay off another bet.
It's worth noting that Sands and Cuny were seated at opposite ends of the table, so Sands was unable to see Cuny's hand at all if it happened to flash.
The river was the , and Sands checked. Cuny bet 20,000, and Sands showed the for trip jacks, chuckled, then folded. The table pleaded with Cuny to show a bluff, but he couldn't, instead tabling the for a full house like he said.
