Cheong Gets What he Needs

Level 7 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Young Australian Kyle Cheong was left crippled just a short while ago, but has now managed to pick up a much-needed double up late here in the day. The hand started with Cheong jamming for around 400,000 from middle position. Folded to Greg Merson on the button and he would move all in for his stack of more than 1.5 million in chips. The rest of the table was out of the way and the two players had turned their hands over.

Merson: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Cheong: {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}

Cheong would need some help to stay alive and that help would come on the river of a {8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{a-Hearts} board. Cheong is now doing much better with around 20 big blinds, while Merson is still doing fine with more than 1 million in chips.
