Paris Aviators vs. Moscow Wolverines

Day 1 Completed

Danzer Wins Final Heat, Filatov Scores 2-1 Victory

George Danzer has won the last heat of this second Global Poker League heads-up match of the day.

Anatoly Filatov was down to 18,000 chips in the 1k/2k-level and went all-in with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Danzer called, holding {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}.

Danzer was behind, but the {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop gave him a lot of extra outs. The {4-Clubs} almost sealed the deal. Filatov was down to the {5-Clubs} for a split pot. The river was a club, but it was the {A-Clubs} giving Danzer the win in this last heat.

Anatoly Filatov can still look back at a great match. He won the first two tough fights against Danzer and takes the victory in this match. He scored six points increasing the Moscow Wolverines lead in the Eurasia conference.

The Wolverines now have 136 points and are 23 points clear of the London Royals and the Hong Kong Stars. Taken in account that the Royals yet have to play their heads-up match later today.

Filatov raked in 56 of those 136 points and is now the GPL topscorer together with Fedor Holz.

Danzer only scored three points today, but that's just enough for his Paris Aviators to climb back to the fourth place. They collected a total of 111 points so far, just one more than the Rome Emperors.

There's now a 40-minute break before the last heads-up match of the day starts. In that match, Justin Bonomo, representing the London Royals, will take on Dominik Nitsche for the Berlin Bears.

Filatov Keeps Fighting

Anatoly Filatov was down to only nine big blinds in the 800/1,600-level. He pushed all-in with {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and George Danzer called after some hesitation with {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Filatov was at risk, but he was ahead with his ace. The board ran out an uneventful {8-Spades}{K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} and Filatov doubled up to 30,000.

In the next few hands Filatov lost some chips, but he keeps fighting for his clean sweep.

Filatov Wins Second Heat, Leads 2-0

A huge coin flip has given Anatoly Filatov a 2-0 lead in this heads-up match.

He pushed all-in with {2-Clubs}{2-Spades} for 46,000 effectively and Danzer made the call with {8-Hearts}{A-Spades}. Danzer was at risk and needed to hit, to survive.

The flop was {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and give Danzer some extra outs with the straight draw, but the {Q-Diamonds}-turn and {4-Spades}-river couldn't save him.

Another three points for Anatoly Filatov and the Moscow Wolverines. Filatov now raked in 56 points for his team. Together with Fedor Holz he is now the player with the most points scored. Although Filatov competed in less games than Holz.

Danzer Hanging In

Just like the first heat, Danzer had a difficult start but managed to hang in there. He scrapes in a couple of small pots and stacks are almost even now. Blinds are up to 1,000/2,000 with a 200 ante, so we might see some all-ins in the near future.

Filatov Survives Cooler

Anatoly Filatov took the early lead in this second heat, but just lost a decent amount of chips in a cooler.

Filatov raised from the button to 1,200 with {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Danzer called with {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Both flopped trips on {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, but Danzer was ahead with his ace kicker. He decided to call a 1,200-bet and did the same when Filatov fired 3,600 on the {2-Hearts}-turn and 8,854 on the {9-Diamonds}-river.

"I could have gone broke here", was the quick analysis from Filatov.

He won the chips back a few hand later. With 8,700 in the middle, he turned a straight with his {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} on a {4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}-board. Danzer had a flush draw and a gutshot with his {6-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. He raised Filatov's 4,355-bet to 13,275, but had to fold when Filatov went all-in.

Filatov Wins Heat One

George Danzer had only ten big blinds left in the 1,600/3,200-level and he decided that {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} was good enough to shove all-in.

Anatoly Filatov woke up with {8-Clubs}{A-Spades} and made the call.

The flop gave Filatov an ace with {2-Hearts}{4-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Danzer needed runner runner to stay alive. The {K-Hearts} on the turn sealed the deal and the {Q-Diamonds} on the river wasn't of any importance.

Filatov raked in the first three points of this match and increased the lead of the Moscow Wolverines in the Eurasia conference.
