If You Need a Hero, Paul Volpe is Around

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Paul Volpe just made a big river call for his tournament life and was proved correct to double to around 62,000.

Again, he had reached the river in a heads up pot and this time he was up against Marsel Khalaf. The board read {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs} and the pot had swelled to around 20,000.

Volpe bet 8,625 before Khalaf set him in for his final 21,000. Volpe didn't like it and asked his opponent, "Will you show if I fold?"

"Sure. Why not?" came the response.

That seemed to trigger something in Volpe's mind and he made the call with {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}. It was good as Khalaf opened {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for ace high.
