Newey Falling

Level 24 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

There haven’t been significant hands that have gone past the flop, but Paul Newey seems to be on the losing side of most of them.

He has dropped down to 4.1 million in chips after taking the lead from Leonid Markin not too long ago.

Newey Makes The Right Call

Level 24 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Leonid Markin opened to 400,000 from the button and was called by Paul Newey on the big blind.

The flop came down {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} and both players opted to check. The dealer then produced the {6-Hearts} on the turn and Newey slid out a bet worth 400,000 in chips. Markin made the quick call before the {2-Hearts} completed the board.

Newey checked and watched as Markin reached for his stack and bet out 600,000. Newey thought for a moment before making the call.

“Nice call,” said Markin, tabling his {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of sixes.

Newey did make the right call, rolling over his {q-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a pair of queens and the winning hand.

Action is Slow

Level 24 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

A lot of folded buttons, some raise and take it situations, and more limped buttons. Action is slow heads up with both Newey and Markin not forcing anything right now. Markin is winning most of the pots though, without big showdowns he has taken the lead this heads up.

Newey Applies The Pressure

Level 24 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Leonid Markin opened to 400,000 and was called by Paul Newey in the big blind.

The flop came down {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Newey checked. Markin reached for his chips and bet out another 400,000 as Newey stared him down. A moment passed before Newey himself reached for some chips before raising it up to 1.1 million.

“How many chips are in play?” asked Markin, contemplating his call.

“So you have me covered,” figured Markin out loud, before eventually leting go of his hand.

"You're Going to Raise Me Now?"

Level 23 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Leonid Markin opened the button for 320,000 and Paul Newey made the call from the big blind.

On {6-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs} it was Newey who lead out for 325,000. "You're going to raise me now?" asked Markin despite there being no raise at the time. Markin decided to call and see a turn.

Both checked the {Q-Diamonds} and the {10-Clubs} fell on the river. Newey checked again, and folded to Markin's 400,000 bet. Newey and Markin are about even in stacks now.

Newey Gives Up

Level 23 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Paul Newey opened for 325,000 from the button and Leonid Markin almost instantly three bet to 625,000. Newey took his time, and asked the dealer if the raise was valid. The dealer confirmed it was, and Newey asked Markin next what he had behind. Markin said he had about 2 million behind, but it was very clear that it was more like 3 million. There ws no official count, but Markin soon said it was indeed a little over 3 million as he mistook a stack of 100,000's wirth 2 million for worth 1 million.

Newey made the call, but folded after Markin pushed on {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

Limped Kings and No Showdown Winnings

Level 23 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

First Newey limped the button and Markin checked. Markin checked again on {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{2-Spades} and Newey bet small. Markin instantly folded and Newey showed pocket kings.

The next button Newey limped again. Markin checked again and the two checked till the river on {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}. With the last community card showing it was Markin who bet out 200,000. Newey called and Markin instantly mucked, Newey did the same.
