Holz Can't Get Things Going

Level 3 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

With {Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts} on the table, Vladimir Troyanovskiy in the big blind checked to Fedor Holz in early position. After some thinking, Holz decided to check behind. Troyanovskiy asked the dealer if he needed to show first, and eventually kind of reluctantly tabled {10-Spades}{2-Spades}. Holz mucked with a face that showed both a smile and some irritation.

Not much later, Polk raised it up from the cutoff to 3,000. Holz in the big blind made it 8,700, and Polk made the call. Both players checked the {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Holz bet 9,200 once the {K-Spades} hit the turn, and Polk made the call in position. The {2-Clubs} on the river made Holz check, and fold as Polk pushed all in. Holz is by far the shortest stack in the tournament.
