Runcan Cracks Eskes' Aces

Level 29 : Blinds 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Paul Runcan
Paul Runcan

Tjenno Eskes raised the cutoff to 100,000 with AA and Paul Runcan made it 550,000 on the button holding K8. When it got back to Eskes, he four-bet to 1,100,000, and Runcan called.

They went to a flop of JQ2 where Eskes checked and Runcan fired 425,000. Eskes called.

A K dropped on the turn and again Eskes tapped the table. Runcan didn't slow down and grabbed a handful of dark chips to make a bet of 900,000. Eskes threw in a timebank and eventually called.

When the K landed on the river, Eskes checked and Runcan checked back, taking it down with his rivered trips.

Anton Bergstrom raised to 200,000 with AJ from under the gun with Tjenno Eskes calling from the small blind and Paul Runcan defending out of the big blind.

The 76K flop checked through for the 7 to fall on the turn. Runcan led out for 350,000, which only Eskes called.

The 6 came on the river and Runcan fired out an overbet of 1,900,000. Eskes burned through a few of his time bank cards before he carved out the call.

Runcan flipped over the winner with 75 for trip sevens, as Eskes was forced to muck his KQ and send a large portion of his stack over to Runcan.

Pedro Marques
Pedro Marques

Barak Oz opened from under the gun to 225,000 with an A and a mystery card, & Pedro Marques called from the big blind holding 1010.

On the Q36 flop, both players checked to the 10 turn where Marques checked, and Oz fired 400,000. Marques then burned through a timebank before he made it 1,450,000. Oz wasn't done with the hand and three-bet the turn to 2,700,000. Marques again used some extra time before he moved all in for almost 6,000,000.

It was Oz's turn to burn through the timebanks and the decision was for his tournament life as he had around 2,300,000 behind. After using three timebanks, Oz decided to fold, and relinquished the pot to Marques.

Pedro Marques

Pedro Marques raised to 200,000 from the hijack holding AK and only Tjenno Eskes called out of the big blind with K10.

Eskes check-called a bet of 125,000 from Marques on the 25K flop.

The turn came the 8 and Eskes check-called another bet from Marques, this time for 480,000.

Danut Chisu: A6 All in
Barak Oz: 88

Chisu needed to find an ace if he was to continue his deep run in the Main Event. However, the board ran out 59293 to keep Oz ahead with pocket eights. The pot was pushed to Oz and Chisu headed to the cashier's desk to collect his ninth place payout.

Siarhei Alontsau

Barak Oz made it 160,000 from early position and Siarhei Alontsau shoved for 1,735,000 in middle position. When the action got back to Oz, he made the call.

Siarhei Alontsau: JJ All in
Barak Oz: 1010

Alontsau was in the same position moments ago and was two-outed on the turn, but luckily for him, lightning didn't strike twice as the K9AK7 runout kept his pocket jacks in the lead, and earned him a double-up.

Poker Gods Smile on Kapeller with a Timely Jack

Level 28 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Siegfried Kapeller
Siegfried Kapeller

Siegfried Kapeller made it 160,000 from early position and Danut Chisu called with 65 from middle position. Siarhei Alontsau then shoved the button for 3,265,000, and Kapeller called off his stack of 1,530,000. Chisu quickly folded.

Siegfried Kapeller: JJ All in
Siarhei Alontsau: KK

Kapeller was way behind to the Cowboys of Alontsau and was at serious risk of being the first player eliminated on the final table. The dealer put out a flop of 73Q was about as dry as it gets for Kapeller, who needed to find a jack to stay alive. The turn brought his wishes, though, as the J rolled off and improved him to a set, which left Alontsau with just two outs. Alontsau couldn't return the favor as the 10 completed the board, and Kapeller can thank the poker gods for that one.

Vidar Oie Eliminated in 10th Place (€81,600)

Level 28 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Vidar Oie
Vidar Oie

Barak Oz opened the action with a raise to 160,000 from under the gun, and Vidar Oie called from the big blind, setting up a heads-up flop.

The board came down KJ7, and Oie checked to Oz, who followed up with a 125,000 continuation bet. Oie wasted no time, moving all in for around 800,000. Oz quickly called, sending the hand to a showdown.

Oie showed K8, holding top pair with kings, but Oz revealed KQ, holding the same pair with the better kicker.

The 3 on the turn and 9 on the river didn't change a thing, sealing the pot for Oz and sending Oie to the rail just short of the unofficial final table.
