Campeonato Espana de Poker

The luxurious Casino Barcelona will be packed to the rafters from August 26 until September 8 thanks to the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona festival taking place. But did you know that the casino will also be full of poker players in the couple of weeks prior to EPT Barcelona? Why is this the case? Because theCampeonato Espana de Poker is in town.

Barcelona is a hotbed for Spanish poker and the Campeonato Espana de Poker (CEP) is one of the country's most popular series. Players from far and wide flock to Casino Barcelona whenever CEP rolls in, with 308 players buying into last year's €1,100 High Roller event. Sergio Contreras emerged victoriously from that event, and scooped €42,150 after a four-handed deal.

The €500 CEP Barcelona Main Event attracts a bumper crowd, with 1,960 entrants competing in 2023. Last year's CEP Main Event saw Romania's Sergiu Covrig come out on top and get his hands on €128,000. The Romanian's payout would have been larger had it not been for a six-way deal that locked in at least €32,700.

Campeonato Espana de Poker Schedule

CEP Barcelona

The CEP Barcelona schedule is in the public domain, and every tournament should be well-attended. Everything starts on August 14 with the first of five flights in the €330 Opening Event. Look at the expandable table below. Most of the major tournaments do not shuffle up and deal until 3:00 p.m. or later, meaning you can enjoy sunny Barcelona before hitting the tables or have a well-deserved lie-in if you overdo it the night before!

The €225 DeepStack follows the Opening event, which is followed by the €250 Mini CEP Main Event, the €500 Main Event, a €1,100 High Roller, and an €880 Super Mystery Bounty; the latter rounds off the CEP Barcelona stop.
