Thomas Santerne opened from early position to 100,000. Action folded around to Pieter Aerts who defended the big blind.
Aerts led the 8♦8♥K♥ flop for 50,000. Santerne reraised to 160,000 and Aerts made the call. Aerts opted to lead the turn for 225,000 and Aerts called again.
The 10♠ river brought a check from Aerts, then Santerne opted to use a time bank. He then jammed all in for over 1,000,000. Aerts took most of his 30 seconds before folding.
Markkos Ladev opened 110,000 in early position, and Stephen Chidwick jammed for 435,000 on the button. The blinds quickly folded, and Ladev made the call.
Stephen Chidwick: A♠J♦
Markkos Ladev: K♣Q♣
Chidwick was ahead as the J♠7♣4♥ flop hit the felt, but the K♠ turn gave Ladev a pair of kings. The 5♣ landed on the river, sending Chickwick to the payout desk.
Thomas Santerne raised 100,000 in the cutoff, and Sirzat Hissou defended the big blind.
The dealer fanned a flop of K♥Q♦4♥, and once checked to, Santerne dropped a stack of 100,000 chips for a bet of 500,000. Hissou almost beat him in the pot, instantly calling off his remaining 275,000.
Sirzat Hissou: K♣5♣
Thomas Santerne: J♠4♠
Hissou flopped top pair and was able to hold as the board completed with the 9♠ turn, and Q♠ river.
After a successful kick-off last year, PokerStars has picked up some valuable lessons, ensuring an even better player experience this time around. The exciting news: the off-the-felt activities are making a comeback, promising a ton of fun beyond the poker tables. Here's what's in store for those making the trip to the French capital city.
Chris Brewer opened from early position to 100,000. Action folded around to Markkos Ladev who called on the button. Niklas Astedt reraised all in for 1,375,000. Brewer deployed a time bank before announcing all in for around 2,500,000. Ladev snap-folded leaving Astedt and Brewer to show down.
Niklas Astedt: 10♠10♥
Chris Brewer: A♠K♦
Brewer took the lead on the 7♣J♦K♠ flop leaving Astedt drawing to two tens. The turn Q♥ presented Astedt with an open ended straight draw which increased his outs. However Brewer's top pair top kicker held on the 6♥ river. Astedt tapped the table before departing from the tournament.

The day began with 31 players returning to their seats after bagging chips on Day 1. However, with late registration still open until the start of the day, an additional 11 players joined the field, bringing the total number of entries up to 62. Although a fresh stack of chips was worth more than 40 big blinds, it didn't take long for the action to heat up and the players to start dropping.
A couple of the late entries that fell by the wayside in the early going included Johannes Straver, Mike Watson, and Kazuhiko Yotsushikawhen he shoved 56 big blinds into Stephen Chidwick’s straight on the river.
With only a couple of hours left in play, Aleksejs Ponakovs was unfortunate to be the bubble boy after his pocket jacks couldn’t hold against the ace-king of Duco ten Haven, leaving him short. Not long after, he ran into the top set of Markkos Ladev with top pair and a straight draw, but the turn left him drawing dead as Ladev filled up.
The players will be returning to Level 18 tomorrow, with 13 minutes and 14 seconds remaining and the blinds at 30,000/60,000 and a 60,000 big blind ante. Make sure to stay tuned in as the PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the live updates en route to crowning an EPT Super High Roller champion.
