Mircea Flutur Leads the Way Into Day 2 of the $2,200 Eureka High Roller

Mircea Flutur
Mircea Flutur

The PokerStars European Poker Tour Cyprus at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa continues today with Day 2 of the $2,200 Eureka High Roller. Across yesterday’s two starting flights, a total of 1,374 entrants tried their luck on the felt, generating a prize pool of $2,610,600. Today, just 206 remain as we play down to a champion.

Having secured the chip lead on Day 1a, Mircea Flutur has also secured the overall chip lead with a stack of 739,000. Of the remaining contenders, Flutur’s calculated aggression throughout yesterday’s flight allowed him to be the only player in the field to eclipse the 700,000 chip mark.

A late-night heater saw PokerStars Team Pro Member, Fintan Hand, bag the fourth biggest stack in the room with 644,000; first, he eliminated Brandon Sheils when Hand four-bet bluffed ace-three into Sheil's ace-queen. Hand hit a three to win the big pot, after which he held with aces against Ryan Mandara's nines only a few hands later.
