Jacob Witt Eliminated in 2nd Place (€97,170)
Jacob Witt completed and Diego Beirigo checked his option.
On the J♦9♣8♦ flop, Beirigo check-raised to 4,000,000 versus a 1,500,000 bet from Witt. Witt called.
The 5♣ rolled off on the turn, and Beirigo continued to fire, sliding out a bet of 7,500,000. After some thought, Witt again put forward calling chips.
The 2♠ river completed the board, and Beirigo slowed down, checking to his opponent. Witt didn't need any invitation to take a stab at the pot, and he relatively quickly moved all in for 18,000,000, sending Beirigo into the tank.
After about 90 seconds of thought, Beirigo made the call. Witt turned over Q♦4♦ for queen-high, having missed his flush and straight draws, and as he did so Beirigo let out a roar of celebration, before turning over Q♥5♠ for a superb hero call with a pair of fives, fourth pair.
Both players had received boisterous support from their rails during the course of the final table, and Beirigo turned and gave members of his an embrace as cries of "Vamos" rang out around the tournament room, while Witt's rail congratulated their man on a fantastic career best performance.
