Mokri In Contention for Back-to-Back Titles in the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller
The biggest six-figure buy-in tournament at the 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona, at Casino Barcelona, continues today at 12:30 p.m. with Day 2 of the €100,000 EPT Super High Roller.
By yesterday's conclusion, 32 entrants coughed up the eye-watering price of €100,000 to sit down at the felt and compete against the best and brightest stars in the game; up almost double the 18 entrants that accumulated in the same event last year.
Of those, 18 players bagged and tagged their chips for the Day 2 restart today, but with reentry still available for the start of play today, this figure is only expected to grow.
Seth Davies took pole position amongst this star-studded field, having accumulated 1,240,000 chips by the conclusion of Level 8. Second time's a charm for Davies as his decision to reenter the tournament was clearly a fruitful one, spiking a set of nines in a three-way all-in to bust both Steve O’Dwyer and Vladimir Korzinin in one of the last few hands of the night.

Following close behind Davies is reigning champion Kayhan Mokri who won this same event last year for €750,960. With a total of 967,000 chips coming into the start of the day, Mokri puts himself in a good position to make a run for back-to-back titles here in Barcelona.
The action on Day 2 picks up on Level 9 with blinds of 3,000/6,000 and a 6,000 big blind ante. The starting stack of 250,000 is still worth more than forty big blinds and with more than $3,000,0000 already in the prize pool, new players have plenty of incentive to jump in at the very last minute to try to chase the trophy.
