Allen Makes a Tough Call For His Tournament Life
Level 12
: Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Ludvig Sterner and Michael Allen built a pot of around 50,000 as they went heads-up to a flop of 3♦3♥3♠. Sterner then bet 10,000 from the cutoff and Allen called on the button.
The 9♣ fell on the turn and Sterner checked. Allen then bet 8,000, Sterner raised to 28,000, and Allen called.
The river was the 9♦ and Sterner moved all in, having Allen's remaining 50,000 well covered. "I was going to call with ace-high," Allen said, letting out a laugh as he pondered the decision for his tournament life.
"I wish it was just like a four," he added as the minutes ticked off the clock. He eventually called with A♠K♠ and let out a sigh of relief when Sterner revealed the same A♦K♣ as they chopped the pot.
