Andersson Leads River

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Sven Andersson
Sven Andersson

Sven Anderson, Max Deveson, and Nacho Barbero were three-way to a flop of 4QJ, which they all checked.

On the K turn, the action checked to Barbero in the hijack again, and this time he made a bet of 15,000 into the pot of 36,000. Andersson called in the big blind before Deveson got out of the way under the gun.

The 9 fell on the river and saw Andersson bet out 50,000. Barbero did not need long before folding and granting the pot to his opponent.

On another table, David D'Alessandro was the first elimination of the day.

The second and final day of the €10,200 Mystery Bounty of the 2024 European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona will get underway at noon local time. Day 1 saw 76 entries being made at Casino Barcelona, of which 39 advanced to Day 2. However, late registration remains open until the start of play today, allowing new players a chance as well as those who still have their option for a single reentry.

Among the people who will not have to make use of those options is Elias Gutierrez. The Spanish player and content creator, who was a long-time online staple under the nickname "SinKarma", has been a familiar face at EPT stops for a couple of years and is on the hunt for his first live PokerStars trophy. With a stack of 317,000, Gutierrez will start the day in a comfortable fourth place on the leaderboard, sitting down with 63 big blinds.

The only players with more chips than Gutierrez are Jules Dickerson, who ended Day 1 with a big chip lead of 413,000, and the transatlantic pair of Fabiano Kovalski and Jesse Lonis, who are not too far away from Gutierrez with stacks of 329,000 and 320,000 respectively.

Other recognizable names in the top ten chip counts include Bulgaria's Boris Angelov (313,000), who recently achieved his first seven-figure score, high-rolling Canadian Sam Greenwood (303,000), and EPT regulars Sven Andersson from Sweden (274,000) and Marcelo Bonanata from Argentina (230,000).

As can be expected from a five-figure buy-in, the remaining field knows plenty of poker's elite, including Nacho Barbero (213,000), Teun Mulder (185,000), and Ren Lin (136,000). Hall of Famer Erik Seidel and recent Triple Crown winner Mike Watson are hovering around the starting stack with 104,000 and 90,000 chips respecitvely, while Santhosh Suvarna and PokerStars' Sam Grafton find themselves near the bottom of the leaderboard with stacks of 77,000 and 64,000.

All players who decide to enter at the start of Day 2 will receive 100,000 chips, starting in Level 11: 2,000/5,000 with a 5,000 big blind ante. The mystery bounties will enter play from Level 13 onwards, which gives new entries and other short stacks room to catch up to the bigger stacks.

All levels will be 30 minutes long, with a 20-minute break after Level 12 to allow the mystery bounties to be set up and 15-minute breaks after every four levels thereafter. The tournament concludes only when a winner has been crowned, while the prize pool and payouts will be confirmed shortly after the start of play.

Stay tuned as PokerNews will report all of the bounty hunting from the beautiful city of Barcelona, from the first deal to the very last. To not miss any of the other action, be sure to check in with the EPT Barcelona coverage hub for extensive coverage of other events.
