Doigni Avoids Being the First Elimination
Action was caught on the river, with the pot bloated for a hand taking place in Level 1.
Laurent Doigni was in early position and fired out 5,500 on the 3♠J♣3♦K♠Q♥ board. Edu Garcia Freixa made it 18,000 from the hijack and was met with a quick call. Freixa tabled K♣K♦ for a full house, besting Doigni's Q♣J♥, who was left with around 5,500.
Doigni dropped a small pot in the following hand to chip down some more but kept himself in the mix.
Carlos Lopez opened to 300 from middle position and Ramon Ballarin called from the button. Doigni defended his big blind and then led out for 800 on the 10♦6♣3♣ flop. Lopez made it 2,400, which folded out Ballarin; however, Doigni called, leaving 500 behind.
Doigni check-called off the last of his chips on the 4♣ turn and the cards were tabled.
Laurent Doigni: Q♣2♠
Carlos Lopez: Q♠Q♥
Doigni was on the verge of becoming the first casualty of the day but the 5♥ river gave him a straight to crack Lopez's pocket queens.
