Straight Versus Straight on the Flop
Adrien Guyon opened to 20,000 from under the gun, and was called by Marco Regonaschi on the button and Andraz Gognjavec in the big blind.
The 10♦A♦Q♣ flop proved to be very eventful, but the action started with Guyon checking. Andraz Gognjavec then made it 55,000, before Marco Regonaschi raised to 105,000 and Guyon quickly got away. Regonaschi thought momentarily before shoving and Gognjavec snap-called.
Andraz Gognjavec: K♣J♥
Marco Regonaschi: K♠J♠
Remarkably, both players had flopped a Broadway and with neither player carrying a diamond, there were no backdoor flush possibilities and the pot was going to be split.
A 7♦ turn landed, with both players seeming somewhat disappointed at the prospect of a chopped pot.
An inconsequential Q♥ hit on the river and officially denied a crucial double up for either player, leaving them both below half of the average stack.
