Kassouf Laments Loss
Level 7
: Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
When passing his table William Kassouf recounted to PokerNews how he lost most of his big stack.
According to Kassouf, a couple of levels ago, Paul Newey raised to 1,500 and Kassouf reraised to 5,100 from the button. Newey called and the pair saw a flop of Q♦J♦6♣. Newey check-called a 9,000 bet from Kassouf and the turn came the 7♠.
Newey checked again, after which Kassouf put in a large bet of 25,000. Newey then shoved all in for not much more and Kassouf called it off.
Paul Newey: 5♦4♦
William Kassouf: K♦Kx
Kassouf had a lead, but Newey had both straight and flush outs to hit. The diamond on the river completed his flush, and Newey chipped up massively while Kassouf's stack was left decimated.
