A massive pot of 125,000 chips had been brewed between Gabriele Re and Junichi Kato when they arrived on the river. The board read 7♠8♦8♠5♦7♦, and Re had bet 35,500 from the big blind, leaving himself only 1,000 in chips behind.

Kato was deep in the tank. After the hand had lasted roughly ten minutes, the clock was called. Shortly thereafter, Kato slammed in a call and Re tabled his A♣K♦ with a grimace.

The bluff had been called by the Q♠Q♥ of Kato, who was very relieved while he stacked up his newly acquired chips. Meanwhile, Re's final chip went in the next hand unsuccessfully, and he was eliminated from the tournament.
