Alejandro "Papo MC" Lococo
Alejandro "Papo MC" Lococo

Heads-up on a flop of 7106, Alejandro Lococo bet 12,000 from the button and Roberto Sagra called under the gun.

The turn came the 5 and Sagra led out for 25,500. Lococo called to see the 2 river, where Sagra then checked.

Lococo then fired out 150,000 and Sagra quickly folded his hand.

At the same time at the other table, Timothy Adams had a bet of 70,000 in front of him against Morten Klein on a board of 8658J. Klein eventually called from the big blind and Adams showed K8 for trip eights as he took down a big pot.

Level 3 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Tsugunari Toma
Tsugunari Toma

Roberto Sagra bet 4,000 from the button on a flop of 6J4 and Tsugunari Toma called in the big blind.

The turn came the 5 and Sagra bet another 9,000. Toma again called to the 3 river, where Sagra tossed out another 10,000. Toma quickly called and Sagra turned over KK.

Toma, though, had 43 for two pair on the river to win the pot.

Two hands later, Alejandro Lococo three-bet to 22,000 out of the small blind and Toma called on the button.

The flop came 5A3 and Lococo bet another 17,000. Toma called and the 6 fell on the turn, where Lococo continued for 65,000.

Toma used a time bank before raising to 122,500. Lococo then went into his time banks, burning through two as he tanked for more than a minute before slamming his cards into the muck.

Nacho Barbero, Ottomar Ladva, and Morten Klein have recently joined the field.

Thorel Falls to Orpaz's Monster Draw

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Tom Orpaz
Tom Orpaz

Tom Orpaz opened to 2,500 under the gun and Jean-Noel Thorel called before Sam Grafton three-bet to 10,500 on the button. Both opponents called.

The flop came 275 and Grafton bet 5,000. Orpaz then raised to 25,000, Thorel reraised to 75,000, and Grafton folded. Orpaz, though, moved all in. Thorel, with 85,500 remaining, tanked for about a minute before calling.

Jean-Noel Thorel: A7
Tom Orpaz: 43

Thorel had top pair but needed to dodge Orpaz's straight and flush draws. The 6 turn completed his straight and left Thorel drawing dead heading to the A river.

There have already been several high buy-in events here at EPT Barcelona, with titles claimed by Felipe Ketzer, David Yan, and Tom Orpaz. Kayhan Mokri won the €100,000 Super High Roller two days ago. The €50,000 event is the highest buy-in remaining on the schedule, and it’s one that all the elite players here in the Catalan capital will have their sights on.

Last year’s event was won by Australian poker superstar Michael Addamo, who defeated Yan heads-up to win €917,330. That final table included the likes of Adrian Mateos, Dan Smith, and Sam Greenwood, who each navigated through a field of 62 entries to claim a portion of the more than €3,000,000 prize pool.

The action begins inside the Pau Casals room at Casino Barcelona. Players begin with 250,000 chips and will play 30-minute levels. There is a 15-minute break every four levels and a 75-minute dinner break at the conclusion of Level 10. Late registration will close once players return from dinner, which should come around 9:55 p.m.

This is scheduled as a two-day event, with players returning for Day 2 tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. Stay tuned as PokerNews brings you all the action until a new high-roller champion is crowned.
