Day 1b of Event #1: €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event has been played to its conclusion here at Casino Barcelona half way through Level 16 with Frederik Johansen emerging as the chip leader after bagging up 423,000 in chips.

Johansen has $81,592 in live-tournament earnings — the bulk of which came from winning a Munkebjerg Poker Tour event back in 2022 for 538,340kr. Johansen was the only player to bag over 400,000 in Day 1b and is in prime position to make a deep run in the event.

Not far behind is Iliodoros Kamatakis, who managed to crack Andreas Samuelsson's pocket queens with pocket jacks toward the end of the day to score a large pot and end with 395,000.

Day 1b began with 27 players and that number steadily rose throughout the day until reaching a total of 155 players by the time late registration ended. With just 15 percent of the field making Day 2, that meant play concluded when the field got down to 23 players. The Day 2 bubble burst after Anh Do lost back-to-back hands against Welker Johny Mendes De Medeiros. All 23 players have made the money for securing a Day 2 berth and the amount won (so far) will depend on how many players register through all starting flights.

Some notables who entered but busted short of Day 2 include Philip Joyce, Marcello Miniucchi, Antoine Labat, and Dan Heimiller, who also entered Day 1a but has been unable to gain any lasting momentum thus far.

Any players who didn't make it to Day 2 still have multiple chances as Event #1: €1,100 Estrellas Poker Tour Main Event still has six starting flights left. The next starting flight is Day 1c, which will begin at 12:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 22. Day 2 will commence on August 25.

Level 16 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Anh Do
Anh Do

Action was on the turn on a board of 8749. Anh Do was all in against Johny Mendes. Chip stacks were near even, but Anh Do had a few more, meaning Mendes was at risk of busting the bubble. Players flipped their cards.

Johny Mendes: 65
Anh Do: Q10

Mendes had a straight and Do had a flush draw and straight draw. The tournament director gave the instruction for the rest of the hand to be dealt. The dealer turned the river card, which was the 8.

Mendes held up and Do was reduced to just a single big blind.

The next hand, Do was in the big blind with his chips in the middle. Omer Smidt raised to 13,000 from middle position and all other players folded. Do was already all in and so players flipped their cards.

Anh Do: J2
Omar Smidt: AJ

The board ran out A9K46. Smidt hit a pair of aces on the flop and held up while Do was eliminated on the bubble.

Dan Heimiller
Dan Heimiller

Action checked to Heimiller on the J109 flop and he bet 2,000. Both van der Stroom and Hocquaux called.

Action checked through on the 2 turn; however, Hocquaux fired 6,000 into the middle after being checked to on the 4 river. Heimiller tossed in a call and van der Stroom folded.

Hocquaux showed Q3 for a bluff and Heimiller turned over 98 for a pair of nines to take down the pot.
